Path to UW — a Seattle Promise & University of Washington-Seattle Partnership

The University of Washington is excited to build upon the success of Seattle Promise by connecting students in Seattle Colleges to baccalaureate degree opportunities at the UW.

The goal of The Path to UW program is to provide support, planning resources, community, and academic preparation experiences to Seattle Promise students on their journey from high school, through their Associate's Degree, and to the University of Washington.

Who is eligible for this program?

All students participating in the Seattle Promise program.

What does the program include?

  • Individualized admissions and advising support.
  • Tailored events meant to help Seattle Promise students prepare to transfer to UW.
  • Summer academic transition courses meant to help Seattle Promise students prepare for the academic transition to University of Washington.

Autumn 2025 UW Application Open

The Autumn 2025 Application is open through February 15. For those interested in applying, please make sure to review the transfer admissions page for application deadlines and information. You should also be reviewing your major admissions requirements to learn more about if you need to be preparing to submit a major specific application too in addition to the general transfer application.

*Please note that UW-Bothell and UW-Tacoma campuses have different applications with different deadlines. You will need to submit a separate application for each campus and can review UW-T and UW-B processes on their respective websites.
In-Person UW Transfer Application & Personal Statement Workshops in January

Offered in-person at each campus on different days, followed by afternoon drop-in advising opportunities. Campus room locations to be announced shortly

  • Seattle Central College: 10:30 -12:00 on Tuesday, January 21

  • North Seattle College: 10:30 - 12:00 on Tuesday, January 28

  • South Seattle College: 10:30 - 12:00 on Wednesday, January 29

This workshop is tailored for Seattle Promise students applying for Autumn 2025 to transfer to the University of Washington, but anyone who is interested in getting ahead and learning more now about the application is welcome to join. We will spend the first part talking about the UW application and how to prepare to be a strong applicant, as well as look at the application itself. We will spend the last half an hour specifically on a personal statement development workshop hosted by our new Path to UW adviser! You are welcome to come for one or both parts of this time. To help us know who we might expect, please fill out this brief RSVP!

Workshop Schedule:

  • General Transfer Application & Admissions Workshop from 10:30 - 11:30 that covers what UW is looking for in a strong application, how to check you are major ready, and other important tips, tricks, and frequently asked questions that will help you fill out the application form smoothly
  • Personal Statement Workshop & Reviews from 11:30 - 12:00, where Laura will review what a strong personal statement covers and considerations for general admissions personal statements versus UW major-specific personal statements many of you may also write
  • Wrap up with Q&A

Personal Statement Review Opportunity for UW Transfer General Admissions Essay
Path to UW is excited to offer Seattle Promise students the opportunity to request a personal statement review for their UW admissions essay! If you are interested in a personal statement review for your UW Admissions Application, please complete the Request Form here

Statement reviews will be based on adviser capacity, and priority review will go to first time request and all requests that are submitted one week before the application deadline, Friday, February 7 at 5pm. For any request submitted after February 7th, we will still do our best to review it, but will communicate with you if we are unable to give feedback because our capacity has been reached.

Repeat Review Request: We cannot guarantee we will be able to do more than one review of your statement as we will prioritize first time requests. You are welcome to resubmit, and we will communicate with you about our capacity! 
UW FAFSA / WAFSA Priority Due Date for Financial Aid - February 28th, 2025

The 2025-2026 FAFSA and WAFSA Forms are now open. The FAFSA/WASFA priority filing date for UW Seattle for 2025- 2026 academic year is February 28, 2025. For more details, please see this timeline. For anyone hoping for FAFSA or WAFSA aid consideration for the 2024-2025 academic year for UW, make sure to fill out the FAFSA/WAFSA form and submit it with UW Seattle and any other schools listed on it by Feburary 28th for highest priority aid consideration. More information on applying for financial aid at UW Seattle here.

Please note that each school you are interested in may have a different priority filing date for the FAFSA/WAFSA. Make sure to check each school you are applying to's priority aid deadlines on their financial aid websites.
